Major Poker 2014 Dates Announced

Poker grinders have an action packed year ahead with WSOP organizers announcing the dates of the WSOP 2014, the 45th edition of the biggest poker extravaganza. The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has played host to the tournament for the last 10 years with May 27 set as the opening weekend.

This will include ‘Millionaire Maker’, the $1500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em even that guarantees a million dollars to the winner. The series is spread over 49 consecutive days which culminates on July 14th with the formation of the Main Event’s final table. The final table will take place in November 2014. Players from New Jersey and Nevada will have the opportunity to win seats to the WSOP since both states have now legalized online gambling.

The 45th WSOP Main Event will commence from July 5 – 7. There will be a number of qualifier satellites, deep-stack tournaments, cash games and gold bracelet tournaments held over the 49 days of competition. The November Nine, the nine finalists will play off at the WSOP Main Event on July 14, 2014.

The “Big One for ONE DROP”, a charity event founded by Canadian entrepreneur Guy Laliberte is scheduled for Sunday, June 29. The buy-in is set at $1m and the field capped at 56. However, the event is likely to be a sellout. More accessible to players will be the entry level ‘Little One for One Drop’, with a buy-in of $1,111. The inaugural event in 2013 was a great success with the overall prize pool exceeding $4.3 million.

According to WSOP’s executive director, the team is hard at work to make the 2014 WSOP a grand success. WSOP.com is geared to offer players from Nevada, New Jersey and around the globe a number of opportunities to win free seats to the events. Residents of these two states will have to sign up for real money play at WSOP.com and take part in satellites in order to win free entries to various WSOP events. The buy-ins start at $75 with cash poker games held around the clock throughout the series starting May 27. Dates for over 60 gold bracelet events are to be finalized shortly.

Earlier, PokerStars announced the schedule for the 2014 Asia Pacific Poker Tour, which includes 13 events. The prestigious Aussie Millions will take place in February. The events take place at PokerStars LIVE City of Dreams Casino in Macau, the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Skycity Auckland Casino in New Zealand, Paradise Walkerhill Casino in Seoul, The Star in Sydney, and the Crown Casino in Perth, Australia.
